A charming home in Edinburgh, Scotland

I’ve been to Edinburgh quite a few times now in the last few years and have always gravitated towards staying as close to central as possible. However, for my most recent stay, my sister and I decided to switch it up and we found the most gorgeous home in Stockbridge.

A link to book is at the end of the post!

How do you get there?

The apartment is located in Stockbridge and is a 25 min. walk or 10 min. drive from Edinburgh Waverley station. Alternatively, you can fly to Edinburgh Airport and get a taxi to the apartment. A taxi takes c.15-20 mins from the airport.

A little bit more about the home…

  • There is a 3-night minimum stay but there is SO much to do in Edinburgh and nearby that I’d highly recommend staying for at least 3 nights anyway.

  • It sleeps 2 people so it’s perfect for a romantic stay in Scotland, a weekend away with your bestie or even a solo staycation.

  • The host provides a really helpful guide to the local area as well as walking guides covering Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. She was super helpful in helping us plan our day trip to the Pentland Hills too, which I’d highly recommend!

  • There is a fully-equipped kitchen with induction hob, full suite of pots, pans, crockery and glassware. A bonus was also that the kitchen was stocked with herbs, spices, tea, coffee and variety of kitchen condiments provided for guests’ use, which was a pleasant surprise.

  • It’s in a great location to explore Stockbridge, Dean Village and more.

Things to do in Edinburgh

There is so much to do in Edinburgh and the surrounding area. Here are a few things to add to your Edinburgh itinerary:

  • Explore Stockbridge where you’ll find coffee shops, deli’s, artisan and vintage stores, and a riverside path to Dean Village. Don’t miss Soderberg bakery (for the most delicious cinnamon rolls that often sell out!), Joelato and the Sunday farmers market in Stockbridge.

  • Visit the beautiful Botanical Gardens for a peaceful spot in the city.

  • Wander around Old Town and up to Edinburgh Castle

  • Visit gorgeous independent bookshops including Toppings, Rare Bird Books, Golden Hare Books and Armchair Books

  • Watch sunset from Calton Hill

  • Enjoy all the lovely coffee shops including Eden Locke, Fortitude, Leo’s Beanery and Cairngorms Coffee

If you love walking, I’d also recommend visiting the Pentland Hills. Whilst it can be helpful to have a car, it’s also doable without one. One of the most accessible walks is to/near Glencorse Reservoir (see photos below). You can get the bus from central Edinburgh to Flotterstone Inn and start walks from there. Remember to check the bus times!

Book you stay here.
